STARTING SCHOOL SEPTEMBER 2021: Please visit the Parents:Reception New Starters' Page for our prospectus and virtual tour

Week beginning 1 June

30th May 2020

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a super Half Term and have been making the most of the glorious sunshine.

Next week, our topic, both in school and for Home Learning will be Under the Sea.

In phonics, we will be learning three more digraphs/trigraphs (where 2/3 letters make one sound), oi, ear and air. It is always helpful to remind your child of the pronunciation before being able to find and read these sounds and then write them in words. Here are some words containing these sounds which you may wish to use to help your child learn these sounds.

In the resources section you will find the Science investigations as well as some question prompt sheets to help develop your child's thinking when carrying out the experiments.

In RE, we will be moving onto Pentecost and this week they will be learning about how the Holy Spirit transformed Jesus' disciples. Before sharing the story of Pentecost, it may be helpful to remind your child of how Jesus rose from the dead at Easter and went up to heaven 40 days later, which we celebrate on Ascension Sunday. I have also included a link for the story of Ascension which might help to put the Pentecost story into context for your child.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to welcoming some of you back to school next week.
